Carrie Ann Cleveland
I am an Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor practicing in Los Angeles and online for residents of California. I provide therapy for people with a range of issues, including chronic and/or complex trauma, narcissistic abuse, high conflict divorce and custody issues, post-separation abuse, intimacy/relationship issues, sexuality, gender identity issues, grief, and struggles with mental wellness. I am passionate about therapy as a means of healing trauma, generating resilience, and contributing to the development of collective wellness for the larger community.
My Story
I got my start as a therapist as a grief counselor at a non-profit supporting the surviving family members of organ donors. Since then I’ve worked in a variety of settings including a low-income clinic, a prestigious in-patient treatment center, and private practice.
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of San Francisco graduating Magna Cum Laude in just two years and have two Masters's Degrees from Pepperdine University, one in psychology and the other in marriage and family therapy, graduating Summa Cum Laude with each.
I have benefited from extensive training in trauma-specific therapies including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I also provide DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) for those who may benefit from concrete tools, skills, and knowledge to balance emotions and take achievable steps toward improving their lives. I consider family systems, attachment theory, and positive psychology, and take a strengths-based approach.
